FAQs

  • Why are you now operating with an up-front fee?
Up until April 2016 we operated on a no up-front fee and straight 50 / 50 income split, unfortunately as the years progressed this was no longer viable. After a simple meeting we reviewed our business model and worked out an amount we thought would be affordable to both authors old and new and then also increased the author royalty percentage to 75%.

  • Why are your prices lower than other sites?
We believe that as it stands our prices are competitive in the current market yet our quality of books will be hard to beat. Our team carry out all the work in house right here in our UK offices so we can monitor each and every step.

  • Are there any hidden costs?
No. Other than any additional extras you request yourself, such as proof-reading, images within the book or books with word counts larger than 80k words. What you see is what you get.

  •  I don't live in the UK, can you still publish my work?
Of course, we work with a number of overseas authors.

  • Are you a self-publisher?
No. We will not and do not accept any old manuscript and all submissions are checked before you receive our approval. We are pleased to say that we are now more strict than ever. If your book contains a number of obvious errors and spelling mistakes then it will be sent back to you.

  • Do you offer editing and proof-reading?
We do offer copy editing as an additional service. This includes, spelling, punctuation, grammar, syntax etc.. as well as highlighting any problem areas. Quotes are provided on a per-book basis so please drop us an email for further information.

  • Can I use my own cover design?
I’m afraid we do not allow authors to provide their own covers. It is something we used to allow however as our name is attached to the book we want them to look as good as possible. With years of experience we are confident that our cover designs will attract your desired audience.

  • What is POD?
POD - stands for print-on-demand. This means you can wave goodbye to costly print runs and storage fees, your books will only be printed as and when they’re needed. We offer one of the highest quality print-on-demand services around, so much so that you’d be hard pushed to notice the difference between a POD and a traditional paperback. Don’t be fooled into thinking all POD are the same - they’re not!

  • Do you sub your work out to other countries?
No. Other than editors whom we work closely with everything is carried out in-house, in our UK based office. Over the years we have designed and developed bespoke systems for reporting royalties and converting your book files. That doesn’t mean we put your book into a machine at one end and it spits out the final version at the other, quite the opposite. Our system allows us to efficiently work through your manuscripts by hand - this allows us total control over the final style of the book.

  • I’m considering the silver package; can I pay for you to design my cover?
Yes. We offer three different levels of cover creation. Please contact us for more details on this.

  • Where will my book / books be available?
Your eBook will be available worldwide from all major on-line retailers including: Amazon, iBookstore, Barnes & Noble, Kobo etc.. plus hundreds more and lets not forget the libraries. Think of somewhere you usually buy your books from and we've probably got them covered. As new retailers pop up we also try our best to negotiate the best deal possible.

  • How do you deliver my sales information?
Once the retailers have reported and paid us for your first sale (an average of three months after publication) you will be provided with a username and password. You can then log into our system and download your reports. The information will be updated at the end of each month.

  • How do I pay you?
You can pay us for your book creation by either bank transfer, Paypal or cheque.

  • How do you pay me?
We pay UK based authors and publishers by UK bank transfer. For non UK based authors and publishers we pay you by PayPal to keep the fees as low as possible for you.

A chilling tale - The Devil Couldn't Break Me

Laura was just eighteen years of age when she fled her family home on the Serbian Kosovo border at the height of the former Yugoslavian conflict. Her father felt she would be safer in Kosovo, free from the rape camps, massacres and ethnic cleansing that took place on their doorstep, the streets of the capital patrolled by US peacekeeping forces. Reluctantly she made the long journey through the mountains and eventually arrived in Pristina.  Neither Laura or her father were aware she had entered a city one US delegate described, "as one vast crime scene."

She had no idea what terrors lay ahead, as she crossed the path of ‘The Chief’, a self professed freedom fighter in the Kosovan Liberation Army. On the face of it The Chief’ claimed to be fighting a noble cause. Behind closed doors he was the mastermind of a huge operation dealing in organ harvesting, people trafficking and prostitution and his evil gang raped tortured and killed at will.

Laura had stumbled through the gates of hell. Follow her quite unbelievable true story of kidnap, murder, brutality and abuse set against the backdrop of one of Europe’s most recent and bloody conflicts and how she encountered some of the most evil men on the planet.

Available in both eBook and paperback format now.

What people have said:

*****
15 years ago i moved to London and was introduced to a beautiful lady with a wide smile and a gentle soul. I am still in touch with her today. In every photo i see of her see is smiling. That lady was Laura. I had no idea that any of this had happened to her so when i saw that she had written a book about her horrendous childhood i had to buy it.
I read it cover to cover in two days and knew i had to write something. I have never written a book or film review before but this book was different. For me it wasn't just about the heart breaking content of 'The Devil Couldn't Break Me', but the sheer amount of times i had to say "i KNOW this girl. How is this even possible???" I have tried to piece my review together in my mind over 20 times before finally trying to write something.
All i can say is that i was very naive to that world, to those horrors of war and abuse. I work in the film industry and i suppose we become immune to aggression and violence. This isn't a script though, and i am still trying to get my head around it all. I can't even comprehend how Laura kept her strength through all of that and i can't begin to imagine how hard it must have been to rehash all that pain to tell her story. Truly heart breaking. No words to describe it all. I'm so sorry you went through all of that Laura, but i am so happy you have found love with your husband and your family and thank you for all of your hard work raising awareness. You deserve every success with this and i won't be surprised if this is made into a film.
Lots of love always xx

*****
I have known Laura (by the name of Lurata) for over 10 years or indeed I thought I knew her. I met her when I moved to London and she became the girlfriend of a colleague. She came across as a total 'ball-breaker', a mediterranean woman (like me) who would not take no for an answer, who was strong, assertive, happy, kind. I knew very little of the ordeal she went through in her native Ex-Yugoslavia, a conflict I heard little about despite still living in Italy at the time and the country being a very close neighbour to us. You know the Media, they let you know only what they want you to.
When I heard she was writing a book on her life I was surprised, curious but I never in a million years would have expected this book to come out.
I finished Laura's book, this morning on the train. Admittedly it was not the best place to finish it as I struggled to hold back the tears and the urge to scream 'how can this happen!!'. It took me on a journey I didn't want to take for most of the time. It was harrowing and emotional to such an extent that I had to leave it for days at a time sometimes as I just simply could not take it anymore. I thought I knew her and I so so didn't. I knew nothing of the sheer horror she went through, of the strength that resided inside her, of the love she is made of.
The past she hid to all of us is a very very tough one but one many many women in the world go through, some even worse, some don't survive. She has and had the courage to share her story with us. A great achievement in itself, the fact that she went on to carve a beautiful life for herself with strength and determination...well that just goes to show what stuff she's made of.
A touching and emotional read but a necessary one.

Don King Came Calling

New Release

The book opens when I receive an unexpected phone call from Hector Elizalde, an employee at Don King’s office in Florida. He is en route to a meeting in Europe and will return to the UK in a week’s time. He promises to call again upon his return.

He is as good as his word and phones with an offer to join Don King’s organisation where the expertise I gained while working for CNN International for ten years, can be put to good use. Satellite broadcasting provides a means of distributing current or delayed footage of boxing programmes to subscribers throughout the world. Consequently, my knowledge will generate more income from the sale of Don King’s boxing programmes.

Subscribers download the satellite’s signals and, depending on time zones, they can broadcast the programming immediately or at a time of their choosing. Two broadcasts of the programme are permitted under the contract for each programme received.

The book, while concentrating on the Don King story, intercedes with my life story up to the time when I eventually join Don at his office in Florida. My knowledge of an annual event, named Sportel, which is held in Monaco, persuades Don King to rent a booth where sales of programming are made to buyers eager to meet Don King. This results in increased sales of his boxing programmes and opens the way for Sportel to extend its reach to an annual event in Miami.

Don King Came Calling, with its twists and turns is a remarkable book that will captivate its readers.
